My adapter arrived! It was a little tricky to get it plugged in and then I had to configure it to work with PICO-8. The mapping suggestions in the PICO-8 manual didn’t work, but I figured it out. Here’s the SDL map:
03000000d804000064f0000011010000,retroUSB NES RetroPort,a:b0,b:b1,back:b2,start:b3,dpup:-a1,dpleft:-a0,dpdown:+a1,dpright:+a0,platform:Linux
The controller works perfectly now!
Here’s the games I tried today (in no particular order):
- Alpine Alpaca
- Drumset
- Clouds Aloft
- Stick v1.01
- On the Wind
- Cernan Slalom
- Dominopolis
- Can Crusher
- frostpunk_pico
- Amika’s Quest
The NES controller feels like it was meant for PICO-8. It’s perfect. Although, my thumb isn’t used to the d-pad and it kind of hurts xD. So that’s it for today; I’m having a great time!
