Learning Assembly, #9

Today I learned more about the Atari’s display timing. It’s weird for me coming from PICO-8, where you can set pixels anywhere and the only limit is the CPU.

Comparing the two:

  • PICO-8 is like painting a picture however you like, with a complexity limit you may never reach.
  • Atari is like painting a picture, but the brush zooms across the page and you only get to pick which color it’s using. And if you want to paint in a specific spot, you have to wait for the brush to get there. And there’s a limit on how many colors you can use per line.

Overall, I’m excited to paint more pictures with a crazy brush!
