Sand Drawing

Imagine I gave you a place which remembers nothing. A place where everything you write and draw exists only for a moment. What would you write? What would you draw? What will you give the sand?

Well, I can’t think of any way to neatly segue into this section. So instead, here’s a dose of writing tone change shock! This project had been languishing at 99% complete for too long and today I finally finished. I took the development of this project much slower than usual and I really enjoyed the process. I think I spent about 5 or 6 hours in total.

Also, I made a big discovery: GameMaker’s “mouse_x” and “mouse_y” variables update mid-frame! I assumed their values were set at the start of the frame, but no: they update whenever they want to, even in the same event! So that’s why my perfect system in Perhaps didn’t quite work.

Credits: Thanks to Fronbondi Skegs and RFCaldas for their excellent wave sounds. Software used: GameMaker 8.1, Aseprite, GIMP, and Audacity.
