I need to learn how to rest, so I’m taking a month off working on projects. I’ve found that I’m good at spending energy, but not at recovering it. It’s much easier for me to constantly work on things than to rest. I want to continue my other projects, but this needs to be what…

Reading LOTR, #3
I love how the dialogue is so seamless. The characters can be talking and telling stories, with other things going on around them, and it all blends so smoothly.
Reading LOTR, #2
I’m about halfway through the first chapter and I love how the world feels so real and alive. Right away, things are happening. It feels like entering the story halfway through, even at the start of the book. Some books feel like a blank start and then later reveal their history. Tolkien starts with the…
Reading LOTR, #1
It’s that time of year again. It’s time to revisit Rohan, Gondor, and the Shire. It’s time to walk the old paths and meet old friends. It’s time to read Lord of The Rings.
Bubbles, Again
I seem to keep making bubble screensavers. Download for Windows:
Smooth 2D Random Movement
I just found a cool, really simple way to do smooth random movement. I’ve spent hours working on other, way more complicated ways to do this. Here’s how it works: the object has two angles which are rotated a random amount each frame. The object is pulled in the direction of each angle the same…
Playing “Punishment”, #1
Today I started playing Punishment by Messhof. It was really hard to find a download link. All the links I could find were broken and the internet archive didn’t have them saved, either. I finally found a reddit post with a link to the game in the comments (thanks to u/Alchemillia_ and u/Imasgrohn!) I’m not…
Playing “Machinarium”, #7
Today I finished playing Machinarium. Everything about it is so good. The soundtrack is amazing. The puzzles are great. The vibe is perfect. The art style and the soundtrack work together perfectly to create an atmosphere unlike any other game I’ve played. My playthrough took 8 hours and 40 minutes. I got the game on…
Peepo Drawing #10, “Snow 2”
I made this one in Gamemaker, so you can download the animated version if you like:
Unscripted, #8
Almost all my recent posts have been about playing games, probably because that’s all I’ve been up for lately. I have this expectation that everything I post has to be original things I make or about learning things; it’s what I did for the first 6 months. I guess I don’t want to only post…
Playing “Getting Over It”, #15
I’m finally playing on PC and I hope to answer a question I’ve had from the start: is playing on PC easier? I’ve completed 4 runs so far and wow, it’s almost like the game was meant to be played on PC. The hammer is more precise, faster, and seemingly more powerful than the mobile…
Snow Day!
It’s snowing! I might lose power later, so I wanted to do a post now. I tried to write a haiku, but the format didn’t work with what I was trying to say. Here it is anyway:
cars driving
snowplows sliding
I’m watching the snow
Playing “Zip—Zap”, #1
Recently I’ve been playing Zip—Zap by Philipp Stollenmayer, a delightful one-button physics puzzle game. I’m surprised by the number and variety of puzzles with only one input. The later puzzles especially are deceptively tricky and super satisfying to solve.
Unscripted, #7
I was working on a more in-depth post for today, but I ran out of time. Maybe tomorrow. I’m realizing that the daily posting schedule tends to push me toward short posts. Sometimes I write a post over several days, but most days I only have time to write one post. And that’s okay. Even…
Playing “Machinarium”, #6
I’m stuck on the puzzles again xD I’ve revisited all the areas, but nothing’s new and the things in my inventory seem useless.
Playing “Machinarium”, #5
Today I played more Machinarium. I really like the puzzles, most of them are the perfect difficulty. Satisfying to solve, but not too difficult. The few times I’ve used hints so far, the solutions were things I never would’ve guessed.
Happy New Year!
Happy new year everyone! I wish you all the very best in 2022! Also with the dawn of 2022, we’re approaching year 2 of Cheese is a Traffic Signal and I have a special post planned.
Playing “Getting Over It”, #14
50 runs, 29 hours. What a ride! I think I might give the game a break for a while xD
